It is a common misperception and it trips up business every time: investing in the idea that a new skill set will help your company innovate, create, collaborate or generate an inclusive, dynamic work culture. It won’t. Skill sets are great when you’re training people how to use a new computer system; not so much when what’s required is a different kind of thinking. To do the real work of diversity, collaboration, innovation, culture change, and leadership, you have to reach beneath the level of visible behavior to the underlying “structures of the land;” you have to reach the level of mindsets.
We prefer long-term relationships rather than one-day “fixes” with our clients. We design according to our clients needs. Contact us for more information.
Here’s how a few organizations have used our work:
- The state of Nebraska asked us to work with their education support units to create cultures of creativity and innovation in their schools.
- REI, Equity Residential, and The National Parks Conservation Association invited us to stir the thinking of their diversity councils, to challenge their assumptions and stimulate their ideas for implementing their diversity initiatives.
- The City of Austin invited us to bring together warring factions to find common ground in a conversation about their urban forest.
- The U.S. Postal Service asked us to work with one of their regional teams to help navigate some difficulties in how they were working together.
- The Boeing Company asked us to work with their managers and engineers to explore new ideas of working with global diversity
- The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching invited us to open teachers to new ideas for learning and renew their commitment to teaching.
